New IFAC webserver successfully installed
We are proud to announce that our new web server has been successfully installed at the Computing Center of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

The new server hosts:
- the IFAC website on http://www.ifac-control.org/
- the TC websites on http://tc.ifac-control.org/
- the IFAC Foundation website on http://foundation.ifac-control.org/
PERFORMANCE AND IMPROVEMENTS
Not only is the new server based on a much faster hardware, but we have also upgraded the software needed to operate our services (webserver, CMS, database server) using the most up to date technologies. Many improvements have been introduced, permitting easy use of our website easier to use and faster response to requirements that arise.
REMOTE MANAGEMENT
One of the most important changes is that we now have remote access to the server at the Academy from the Laxenburg server, allowing us speedy intervention in case of problems, without having to contact support staff from the Academy. We have also gained independence in the choice of software we need for our services. Another advantage for our users is the support we can offer by analyzing in realtime should there be problems with the website.
BACKUP
We have also introduced a backup system which automatically makes a nightly backup of all data from the webserver at the Academy on the server in Laxenburg. Even in case of a complete system failure no data will be lost, and we can restore the system within a very short period.
MONITORING
Furthermore, we have set up a monitoring system that notifies the system administrators immediately should any of the required services fail.
